I’m kinda moving online home…well in part. When I started up stranded I just wanted somewhere online to talk about things I liked, or discovered, or wanted to share. It’s always been mostly about things to do in Sligo and Dublin, and music (and other arty things) I love, but from time to time I’ve wanted to write about conferences I’ve enjoyed, or great digital stuff that’s going on online, and although I’ve written the posts it just doesn’t seem like the best fit. So I’ve set up a new blog, currently called Audience Engagement 2.0 but that may well change.
It’s somewhere for me to gather and share useful info I come across in my work; case studies of good practice internationally, reports on conferences/articles, and some top tips for things like facebook and twitter interaction. All with the intention of exploring audience engagement with music, arts, entertainment etc online. I know I’m not the most prolific blogger, but it’s nice to have somewhere online to gather those thoughts, and I won’t have to shoe-horn them into stranded anymore!
Stranded will keep going, exactly as it has before, but if you’re one of the few regular readers that are interested in online engagement, social media etc then you might want to check the new blog out too.
and so my post blog awards blogging resolution failed miserably…I haven’t written a single update in months! Well I have over on the Fresh Air Blog, and The Model‘s blog, and lots on twitter, but nothing here. It could be iphone, or the ease of twitter, or the (whisper it) summer we’re having, but I have fallen into that trap of thinking about writing and not doing it.
I’ve been to a few really stimulating conferences/symposiums on the digital age/blogging in the last month which has set me off again, so expect a few posts to follow. But if the summer holds out maybe not…
I’ve been doing some digging around my old electronic self to get reminders on some favourite gigs/albums/culture of past years so I can post a little decade round up of my faves, there has been so much that I need reminding of what was when. Now, as an aside, I know this may seem late but I don’t know how people find the time to do this sort of thing before the year/decade is actually out…that’s what January is for!
So anyway, this research has consisted of searching old emails (frequently do end-of-year Top 5′s with mates) and blogs which basically =myspace. Pre-”stranded” I was over there on old myspace, circa 2006/2007 getting introduced to blogging that way. Funny how quickly I migrated to facebook- seems like it was spring/summer 2007- and started ignoring myspace. Anyhow – decided to copy and paste the blogs from myspace in here with their original post dates so that I have them in one place. I’ve tagged them all as myspace archive in case anyone is so inclined as to want to browse them. It’s the same sort of chat I do here really, music, culture, things to get to, reviews of things gotten to by me. I should really delete the myspace account outright- like the many millions that are being haemorrhaged from the platform in the past year- but I can’t bear to delete it fully just yet….soon, soon.
